Direct isotope values from human bones and teeth, including Carbon, Nitrogen and Oxygen, including sequential slices. Note on standards used to express stable isotope values: Carbon ratios from collagen are all expressed relative to the Vienna Pee-Dee Belemnite (VPDB) standard. Nitrogen ratios from collagen are all expressed relative to atmospheric N2 (Air N2). Carbon ratios from the carbonate fraction of enamel or bone bioapatite are all expressed realtive to the Vienna Pee-Dee Belemnite (VPDB) standard. Oxygen ratios from the carbonate fraction bioapatite or enamel are most commonly expressed realtive to Vienna Pee-Dee Belemnite (VPDB) standard, but can be expressed relative to the Vienna Standard Mean Ocean (VSMOW). Becuase of this possibility, the standard used in the source publication should always be recorded. Oxygen ratios from the phosphate fraction bioapatite or enamel are most commonly expressed realtive to the Vienna Standard Mean Ocean (VSMOW), but can be expressed relative to the Vienna Pee-Dee Belemnite (VPDB) standard. Becuase of this possibility, the standard used in the source publication should always be recorded. There are several conversions that can be done to increase the comparability of stable isotope measurements. BIAD does not record these conversions and only records original values.
